Chesfield Downs Golf Club Wedding Photography, Graveley

You can never predict the weather, and Amy & Richard’s August wedding was no exception, we had every season in one day.

Bridal preparations in the morning were spent at Amy’s parents home with her Bridesmaids.

Amy’s beloved cat was also present but looked on seemingly unimpressed by the bustle of activity, preferring to watch on from the perfectly kept garden. I couldn’t help but include a few home grown tomatoes & apples (& Cat!) alongside some of the details shots of jewellery and shoes. As the morning went on grey clouds started to replace the sunshine and our weather watch begun.

Their wedding ceremony was held at the very beautiful St Ethaldreda’s Church in Old Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

St Ethaldreda’s Church dates from the 13th century and I have been fortunate to photograph many wedding at this atmospheric church.

As the anticipation for the Brides arrival grew, so did the grey clouds & the rain finally began to fall.

Amy & Richard’s service at St Ethaldreda’s Church was poignant, witty and heartfelt. With references to changing your Facebook status to ‘married’ alongside the more traditional changes that come with being a married couple.

With the vows taken and ceremony over we walked outside to the bright sunshine, and we went from ducking the rain to finding enough shade in which to take the formal photographs. By the end of the formals the rain clouds were back and we had a mad rush to get the much desired confetti shot before the rain fell once again.

I am so grateful to all of the guests who made a mad dash to get into position to throw the confetti just as the heavens opened. We got the shots, and everyone ran to the guests transport for the day, an awaiting Double Decker bus. Amy & Richards transport was perhaps my favourite wedding car this year, a fantastic wedding Camper Van.

“Zoe made our day perfect, our photos are simply amazing”

Amy & Richard’s Reception was held at Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club, in Graveley, Hertfordshire. Within the short journey from St Ethaldreda’s Church in to Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club in Graveley the rain had stopped, and the grey clouds had been replaced by the most glorious sunshine and blue sky, which then stayed with us for the rest of  Amy & Richards wedding day. During their drinks reception were even rewarded with a rainbow.

The post wedding breakfast speeches were both sentimental and a chance to mock and poke fun at your nearest and dearest. It was topped off by a video by The Proclaimers congratulating Amy and Richard on their wedding day.

The grounds at Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club are stunning, and we took the opportunity for Amy & Richard to have a few moments to themselves (except for me of course!) to enjoy the sun setting over the 18 hole golf course.

The Proclaimers popped up again during Amy & Richards wedding day in the form of the first dance, ‘I would walk 500 miles’.  By the end of the song all of the wedding guests had joined the Bride & Groom on the dance floor and I am fairly certain some of the guests didn’t leave the dance floor again for the rest of the night.

Thank you Amy & Richard for having me as your wedding photographer!
