From my first meeting with Amy & Richard I knew their wedding day would be brilliant. Their quirky sense of humour resonated with me instantly, and their desire to have a laid- back wedding with big emphasis on fun was music to my ears.

CEREMONY at st ethaldreda’s Church, Hatfield

They had chosen hold their wedding ceremony at St Ethaldreda’s Church in Old Hatfield, Hertfordshire. I am lucky to photograph lots of wedding ceremonies at this 13^th century Church. St Ethaldreda’s is impressively grand, but always manages to maintain a sense of intimacy.

Also, as impressively grand was Amy’s choice of wedding dress. This was a fairytale dress if ever there was one. It fitted perfectly with the magnificent surroundings of St Ethaldreda’s Church.

The weather on Amy and Richards wedding day was what I can best describe as unpredictable. We were offered up pretty much every season in one day. From bright sunshine in the morning, to grey clouds, and pouring rain. It was cold, then it was warm. But to reward us for our perseverance we were blessed with a rainbow and the most glorious evening sunset at the end of the day.

A flexible approach is essential when it comes to the British weather on a wedding day. I always work hard to get the pictures my couples want given whatever weather is thrown at us. Amy and Richard were brilliant at trusting me to do so, dashing out with me when the skies cleared.

Amy & Richard’s Reception was held at Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club, in Graveley, Hertfordshire.

The guests enjoyed a private bus ride for the short journey from St Ethaldreda’s Church to Chesfield Downs. Whilst Amy and Richard arrived by VW Campervan. One of my favourite choices of wedding transport.

The grounds at Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club are stunning. We certainly made the most of the 18-hole golf course as the sun set. As well as being picture perfect, it was a great for Amy & Richard to have a little time together to take it all in.

After a great set of speeches including a cameo appearance from the Proclaimers, the dancefloor was calling, and what a party that evening was, the shoes were off and the shapes were being thrown. A fitting evening to what was a brilliant day.
