Fanhams Hall Wedding Photographer

“The photos are more than I expected, you’ve really captured the day. Thank you again for being so fabulous”

If you are looking for a wedding venue in Hertfordshire then Fanhams Hall is very likely to be on your shortlist.

Located in Ware, Hertfordshire. It offers so many amazing photo opportunities, and is up there as one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph.

From its landscaped gardens and grounds, which span over 27 acres. To the beautiful interior of the Jacobean Mansion, dating back to the 1400’s.

Another big selling point for couples planning their wedding is the 77 bedrooms Fanhams Hall has to offer. As your wedding reception comes to an end, and feet are sore and heads are dizzy, it’s very appealing to knows theres only a short stumble up to bed.

With all of this to offer Fanhams Hall was an obvious choice for Geraldine and Joe’s wedding.

And after 18 months of uncertainty and lockdowns, full weddings were back and family and friends could celebrate together again unrestricted. From the first time I met Geraldine & Joe at our planning meeting I knew their wedding was going to be incredible.

Geraldine and Joe both spent their wedding morning at Fanahms Hall. With Bride and Groom on site I was able to duck between their rooms, capturing both the bridal party and groomsmen all getting ready.

There are several options for your ceremony at Fanhams Hall. If you want to keep with the feel of the historic building you have the choice of the Long Gallery and the Great Hall.

For those wanting a more modern twist to their wedding there is the Lakeside Pavilion, which is a contemporary extension to the historic building. And of course, you have the amazing grounds outside.

Geraldine and Joe chose to have their wedding ceremony in the Long Gallery. With its Jacobean architecture, and ornate ceiling. It creates a stunning and romantic atmosphere for a wedding ceremony.

Geraldine’s love of flowers was on show throughout the day from the beautifully detailed bridal bouquets to the tall flower displays decorating both sides of the aisle.

With the sun shining everyone headed to the immaculately landscaped gardens for their post ceremony drinks reception.

Geraldine & Joe wanted some formal photos but to keep them as quick and informal as possible. Something I hear a lot from my couples.

So, we found some shade and I focussed on keeping the ‘formals’ natural, fun, and most importantly speedy, so that Geraldine and Joe could get back to mingling with their guests.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Great Hall. Elegantly dressed to suit the feel of the room with its beamed ceiling and large stone fireplace.

The Minstrel’s gallery in the Great Hall is great spot to capture some birds-eye photos of your wedding reception.

The speeches were a mix of heartfelt tears and belly laughs. From Geraldine’s Uncle, the Father of the Groom, Geraldine’s 5 Bridesmaids, the Groom and finally the Best Man.
All made sure the couple felt so loved and hilariously shamed in equal measure.

There was even a guest appearance from the couples beloved cat (well a cardboard version at least).

The manicured grounds of Fanhams Hall offers so many different opportunities of areas to have wedding photos. From the walled gardens, Japanese gardens and grade 2 listed teahouse, the wild wooded area, and so many nooks with wild flowers, running water, and beautiful iron gates.

During every wedding I like to take my couples away for a short time for photos of just the two of them. As well as capturing intimate moments that make for beautiful photographs, it is also a great chance for you to step back and have a few minutes together to take in the day.

Limbo kicked off the evening reception with Geraldine not only holding the title as the Bride for being the most important person at the wedding (aside from Joe of course) but also taking the title of Limbo queen.

Then it was time to hit the dancefloor. The reception dancefloor is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding to photograph. With everyone letting loose and having fun.

But a reception dancefloor after a year & a half of lockdown, and no dancing with friends, well that’s a whole new level of partying! And it was a joy to be there to capture it.
