Plegdon Barn is a historic Tudor barn located in the Bishops Stortford countryside, on the Essex/Hertfordshire border.
The barn offers exclusive hire to couples for their wedding day, and hosts only one wedding per weekend, allowing time for the barn to be customized and decorated the day before the wedding.
Plegdon Barn is surrounded by countryside and is not attached to a hotel making it a perfect choice for those wanting a more bespoke, intimate wedding in a rural setting away from the masses. Emma & James chose Plegdon Barn for their wedding reception for this reason.
Although Plegdon Barn in licensed for ceremonies, Emma & James chose St James’ Church, in High Wych for their wedding ceremony.
The history between St James’ Church and Emma & James’s own families goes back over the generations, so it was without question that they would carry on family tradition and marry here.
I spent the morning talking all things hair, make up & wedding planning, with Emma, & her Bride Squad at Emma’s home. Later I met up with James who was taking care of the pre-wedding nerves with a pint in The Rising Sun pub, conveniently located just a stones’ throw from St James’ Church.
It was a very cold day but Emma & James were keen to have some formal family photos outside the church before heading off to their wedding reception.
