“Thank you Zoë, our photos are just what we had hoped for and more, they captured our day perfectly’.

South Farm is a stunning wedding venue for any couple looking for a rustic country feel to their wedding day.

Located in Royston between the Hertfordshire / Cambridgeshire border, South Farm is a working farmhouse surrounded by timber framed barns, farm animals and rolling countryside.

There are several options on where to hold your ceremony at South Farm, Mel and Jay chose The Summer House, located on the pond in the venues gardens. Perfect when you are blessed with a beautiful summers day as they were.

The Day

The couple wanted their day to be very relaxed and informal, and were keen to have the same approach with their wedding photography. Allowing me to stand back and capture the hugely fun day as it unfolded. Mel and Jay were less concerned about having getting ready photos in the morning or the evening reception, so they asked me to document their wedding day from their ceremony through to the reception speeches.

Although not comfortable on having her photo taken, Mel, Jay and I nipped off for a few minutes alone away from the crowds, and I captured some informal moments of the two of them together.

I am very used to working with couples who say they are not keen having their photo taken.

My approach with photographing your wedding day very informal, to have some fun and capture some beautiful images, but most importantly listen to what the couple want. This approach has worked every time, and the results are always relaxed beautiful images of the couple together.

After guests enjoyed their champagne and canapes, followed by ice cream and lawn games, they were lead to the stunning Tudor Barn for the wedding breakfast.

Dating back to Tudor times, South Farm’s Tudor Barn was restored in 2005 and is the core of the many different entertaining spaces that make up this wedding venue. The adjoining Horse Barn was transformed into a serious play den for the younger guests who were kept entertained during the speeches.

Whilst guests enjoyed their wedding breakfast it was the perfect opportunity for me to visit the Barn Yard and say hello to some of South Farm’s other residents, the very cute little piglets and their Mum, and their less cute – noisier feathery neighbour’s.

The wedding breakfast ended with fantastic speeches full of laughter and of course the customary cake cutting to signify the evenings party was about to begin.
