Hertfordshire wedding photographer Zoë Cooper

“Zoë is and was amazing! She is professional, calming and engaging and for anyone fearful of being photographed, like myself, she is fantastic. I would recommend Zoë to everyone”.

Tewin Bury Farm Hotel is the perfect choice for couples looking for a Hertfordshire based countryside style wedding.

Set alongside the River Mimram located between Hertford and Welwyn in Hertfordshire, this 4-star hotel is home to two impressive rustic barns, The Tythe Barn (for larger wedding parties) and The Stable (for more intimate weddings).

The Tythe Barn at Tewin Bury Farm is where Clare and Chris chose to hold their wedding ceremony and reception. The 17th Century barn has a stunning interior with exposed beams, natural wood floors, and a minstrel’s gallery, which is perfect for a photographer’s aerial view or used as a quieter area for guests. Wedding parties also have private use of outside grounds which overlook the River Mimram.

I have photographed many weddings at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel, but this wedding had something I had never experienced before – a Marryoke.

A Marryoke – for those not in the know, is a mimed karaoke which is performed by as many guests as possible throughout the day. The dancing to the track, as well as miming, is non-negotiable. The song choice for Clare & Chris was ‘Blame It On The Boogie’ by Michael Jackson.

The assemblage of Marryoke stars began early with the Bridal party in between hair and makeup. Throughout the day I caught sight of the videographer shepherding (sometimes unsuspecting) guests to the sidelines to mime their heart out. I could have happily spent the day just photographing the guests dance moves.

Clare and Chris’s wedding ceremony took place in The Tythe Barn which was packed with guests, and most importantly with their one year old Son overlooking proceedings in his little Porche car.

Their vows, which they had written themselves led many family and friends to tears. They chose to conclude their ceremony with Jewish traditions of encircling the Groom and finally breaking the glass to a huge round of applause from their guests.

The beautiful Spring day allowed for guests to enjoy the wedding reception in Tewin Bury Farm’s impressive grounds, whilst we took the formal family photos and then I snuck off for a while with Clare and Chris alone. A chance for them to have five minutes to themselves to take it all in, and for me to get some informal shots of just the two of them together, away from the crowds.

I get to see a lot of wedding cakes, but Clare and Chris’s was particularly impressive!
As huge fans of the sitcom ‘Friends’, they commissioned a cake in honour of their favourite show & their wedding day. I really did look too good to eat.

I love photographing evening receptions. It’s a time where everyone lets their hair down and I always hope for a packed dancefloor. Well, on this wedding I could barely squeeze myself around the dancefloor. It was the best end to a perfect day. And I know for a long time to come I will always think of this wedding whenever I hear Blame It On The Boogie!
