I have been a wedding photographer for The View in Hertfordshire back when it was known as The Fairway.

But in 2017 it was taken over by another Hertfordshire wedding venue – Tewinbury Hotel. And ironically Gemma chose Tewinbury for her morning wedding preparations.

Photographing morning prep is always a fun opportunity to get to know the bridal party. And of course photograph the important details like the wedding dress.

Spring delivered with blue skies and sunshine. Ending up as one of the hottest on record. And Gemma and Richard’s dream of an outside ceremony was fulfilled.

For couples who have young children, I like to break up the photos. Children have a limited attention span and therefore I like to get any ones including the children out of the way soon after the ceremony (and most importantly before their pristine outfits get covered in chocolate). Above all, it’s about making it fun for the kiddies, and engaging with them.

After Gemma and Richard had a chance to mingle with guests, I took them off alone for some relaxed photos, and most importantly a chance for them to steal 5 minutes together. But, on this occasion the photos weren’t quite so relaxed as a result of us we allowing Richard control of the golf buggy when driving us to my pre-planned locations.

I had been keeping my eye on the sky as the evening drew in, sure we could be in for a sunset. The views over the Panshanger golf fairway are fantastic and our luck was in. Sunsets fade as quickly as they arrive and Gemma, Richard and I dashed outside straight after dinner to grab we got the shot before the sun went down.
