In previous posts I’ve shone a spotlight on the prominent registry offices in St Albans, and Hertford, so it is only right that I include another local space for civil ceremonies – Cheshunt Registry Office.
CHESHUNT REGISTRY OFFICE
During the pandemic, I regularly photographed weddings at Cheshunt Registry Office. At a time when covid restrictions limited what couples could do on their wedding day, many decided to say their vows in a more understated way. The result – a registry office wedding boom.
While life has returned to normal (whatever normal is), registry office weddings have remained popular. They are perfect for couples who want a less formal wedding, or a smaller more intimate day.
And if you are looking for a civil ceremony at a registry office, there certainly are plenty locally to choose from. Each offers different things to couples. Whether it is a central location close to restaurants, or a picturesque garden space for photos. The decision for which registry office best suits you, will have a lot to do with the type of wedding day you want.
MICRO WEDDINGS IN HERTFORDSHIRE
I take bookings for lots of micro weddings, where couples want only a small part of their day photographed. Registry offices are ideal for this scenario. Some then go to restaurants for an informal wedding meal, for others the ceremony is a legal tick box with a larger blessing celebration planned at a later date. The reason for wanting a micro wedding is vast & very personal, and I love capturing the authenticity that each wedding brings, regardless of how big or small.

CHESHUNT REGISTRY OFFICE WEDDING
Civil ceremonies are held in the Octagonal Room at Cheshunt registry office. The space can accommodate up to 50 guests, and the shape of the room gives it a bit of a different feel to standard registry office buildings.
WHY CHOOSE CHESHUNT REGISTRY OFFICE
In a nutshell, the outdoor space. The grounds at the back of the building are a great space for formal or informal photographs. The beautiful gardens overlook a lake and some trees for shade on sunny days. It is, in my opinion, the most picturesque grounds of any local registry office.
ARE THERE ANY DOWNSIDES TO CHESHUNT REGISTRY OFFICE?
As with so many registry offices, parking is shared with other surrounding buildings. It can get busy, so parking spaces aren’t guaranteed. Parking is also warden controlled so make sure you pay for your space!
You will also need to use transport for any onward celebrations, as its location is not central to restaurants and bars.
