Summer weddings do not guarantee summer weather. But no amount of rain could dampen Anna & Akash’s beautiful rainy wedding at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.
TWO DAYS, TWO MULTICULTURAL WeddingS
This was an epic two-day celebration. Day one would be a traditional Scottish affair – kilts, ceilidh and classic glamour, a nod to Anna’s Scottish family and heritage.
Day two however, promised a very different wedding with Akash’s Sri Lankan culture taking centre stage with vibrant colours, vast numbers of guests, food galore and a whole lot of dancing.
Their two wedding days were every bit as incredible as they promised to be. And trying to show them in one post would be impossible. They were so vastly different (as was the weather!) and I know so many couples will take inspiration from their styling and colours.
So this post is dedicated to day one, the beautiful rainy wedding at Hatfield House honouring Anna’s Scottish heritage.
WHY HATFIELD HOUSE IS A GREAT VENUE FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Having an August wedding unfortunately does not guarantee summer sunshine. Very few times in my career as a wedding Photographer it has rained all day at a wedding. But this was one of those days.
You can never second-guess the weather. Having a venue that can accommodate your whole wedding inside, if necessary, takes a lot of pressure off of couples.
Hatfield House’s Banquetting Hall is so huge that I could easily set up my lights to take all of the formal photos Anna & Akash wanted in the same space as the drinks reception.
I could deliver what the couple wanted regardless of what the weather threw at us. This is why a Hertfordshire wedding venue like Hatfield House is so great for photographers to photograph at. Secondly it is a venue so local to me, and one I have photographed countless times. So if we do get a small break in the weather, I know the grounds like the back of my hand, and know exactly where to take you.
Sugar Blossom Cakes based in Bedfordshire created their elegant wedding cake, which was a great reception talking point adding to the stylish and classy theme of the day.
Whilst I cannot bring you sunshine, I can guarantee I will always work creatively with what we have, and give you options for your photos. Anna & Akash embraced the rain and the small window of dry weather we had, and we made the very most of it.
CEILIDH WEDDING RECEPTION
Ceilidh’s are fantastic for wedding receptions. They get everyone on the dancefloor enjoying themselves. And if your guests haven’t met & mingled beforehand, they sure will get to know each other quickly at a Ceilidh!
