THE OLD PALACE AT HATFIELD HOUSE

Hatfield House, Wedding Blog

This post should be renamed Incredible Flower Appreciation Blog. Because that’s exactly how I feel about Emma & Tom’s stunning Hatfield House Wedding at The Old Palace.

The old palace BANQUETTING HALL

The thing about The Old Palaces Banqueting Hall, is that you can add absolutely no decor, and it would still look incredible. I expect that is a big selling point for a lot of couples. But Emma & Tom had grand plans for this already grand venue.

Take a venue that already has the wow factor, and then add some more wow. And you create something quite breathtaking. That’s the best way to describe Emma & Tom’s wedding decor, with Spinney Cottage Flowers & dress it yourself working their magic.

Head down to the reception photos and you’ll see what I mean.

Morning prep with the girls is always a lovely chance to meet the bridesmaids and family. Capturing the anticipation and flurry of a wedding day morning. After hanging out with the girls (& Emma & Tom’s dog). It was time to leave wedding prep and head to the venue to see how nervous the Groom was.

The Banqueting Hall of The Old Palace is large enough to have your wedding ceremony, with your reception tables already set and hidden behind a partition. So everything is well set up before your ceremony has even begun. And the turnaround time for your reception is much quicker.

Additionally, having a ceremony and reception all in one place means guests only had to travel as far as a few steps to their reception in the Knot Gardens after the vows.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE OLD PALACE

Most couples love a group photo of all of their wedding guests together. But to do this you need to get up high. And Hatfield House has the perfect window to hang out of. The only downside is it’s located in the Gent’s toilets. I can’t tell you how many men I have inadvertently walked in on bursting through the door to get the group shot. My apologies to all of them, but the photo takes priority!

After the drinks reception, it was on to dinner. With top table foliage to challenge any best-dressed awards. Speeches were sharp and cutting leaving everyone, including me, in fits of laughter. As the late afternoon rolled into the evening live music courtesy of The Bears kept the dancefloor packed, the glasses full and a lot of smiling happy faces.
