When I first met Sharon & Rebecca I knew immediately their same-sex wedding would be so much fun, and boy it did not disappoint!
They chose Hatfield House in Hertfordshire for their wedding, a venue I am lucky to photograph weddings at a lot. Having their ceremony and reception in one place to minimise stress on the day, and also the need to travel.
The Riding School at Hatfield House offers all of this with a modern feel. In contrast to the historic The Old Palace. All within the historic and pristine grounds of Hatfield House.

The Riding School was transformed with the expertise of event planners Chrisco Productions. Who brought in specialist lighting equipment and props to make the evening ambience extra unique. Chrisco Productions also provided the music throughout the wedding day.
After an emotional ceremony, guests headed outside to the gardens overlooking Hafield House for the drinks reception. Meanwhile Rebecca, Sharon and I took time out for some couple photos in Hatfield House’s pristine grounds.
I have always enjoyed the drinks reception where I get to sneak around photographing unaware guests. It’s a real chance to capture natural moments, real smiles and laughter.
After a few more drinks, and a lot more silliness we headed back to The Riding School for Sharon & Rebecca’s wedding breakfast.
Singing Waiters at hatfield house
The Best Women did a fantastic job of character assassinations of both Rebecca and Sharon in the speeches. And dinner was interrupted by a brilliant performance from secret singing waiters.
The performers did such a great job of suddenly bursting into argument in front of all the guests that I genuinely thought they were about to be wrestled to the ground by wedding guests. It was great fun photographing the guests faces as the penny dropped, and Sharon & Rebecca’s glee at fooling all their guests.
The singing waiters ended their performance with a medley of songs, which had everyone dancing around the tables. The dancing didn’t stop from that point onwards, as dinner blended into the evening reception.
Sharon and Rebecca’s wedding was a day of a lot of laughing, a lot of love and a whole lot of dancing.
