SMALL INTIMATE WEDDING DAYS

Katie & Ethan’s small wedding at St Ethaldredas Church in Hertfordshire was perfect.

Most of the time I photograph a full wedding day from morning until the evening reception.

But occasionally, I have couples who only want a photographer for a small part of their wedding day. Every wedding is different so I have always offered flexible small, intimate wedding packages for couples who want to do things differently.

SMALL WEDDINGS AT HATFIELD HOUSE

I am lucky to have photographed lots of weddings at St Ethaldredas Church in Old Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The Church overlooks The Old Palace at Hatfield House. It is therefore a great option for couples who want a Church wedding, with their reception at Hatfield House. You may wonder if having a small wedding at St Ethaldredas Church would work given the vastness of the building. But it really does because of Father Darren’s unique skill to make every wedding feel like the biggest event, regardless of the size of the wedding party.

This was the case for Katie and Ethan, who at the time were living in Africa. They would marry in the UK where Katie was raised, and set up home in California where Ethan is from.

Their wedding would be small and intimate. They didn’t want photos of them getting ready, or the evening reception, so they asked me to join them for their wedding ceremony and drinks reception only.

ST ETHALDREDAS CHURCH WEDDINGS

Katie and Ethan are both English teachers, with a huge love of Shakespeare. A theme that would resonate throughout their wedding. Their confetti cones, wedding favours and table names all referenced Shakespeare’s plays.

The couple were keen to have lots of photos of their families together. Especially given Ethan’s family had travelled from the United States for the wedding, and Katie would soon be leaving her family.

Katie and Ethan also honoured their love of Africa by decorating their tables with materials they had brought back with them.

Once we had arrived at The Old Palace, Hatfield House, and before the wedding breakfast. I took Katie and Ethan off for a few moments to get some pictures of the two of them together. This wedding day was only the start of an exciting journey ahead for the two of them.
