Commercial photography for businesses comes in various forms, depending on the business and what it wants to show its customers. In the case of Welwyn Garden City Salon Stonehills, it was for a ‘Peaky Blinders’ inspired styled photoshoot.
WELWYN GARDEN CITY PHOTOGRAPHY
Stonehills Salon is an award winning, and hugely successful salon based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The town itself had just celebrated its 100th year birthday, and this got us thinking about how we could incorporate this into our photoshoot. The vision was for this commercial shoot to focus on Men, and the development of their style within the last 100 years.
STYLED PHOTSHOOT BRIEF
Stonehills has a strong male client base, but often salon images are based around Women. We wanted this photoshoot to celebrate Men’s style, and a chance for the salon to inspire its male client base. Having a salon definitely has its benefits. And the morning was spent at Stonehills and Ashley Charles Salons in Welwyn Garden City preparing our looks for the shoot. We then headed to a local woodland where we had already scouted as a great location to set the feel for the photos.
The weather was perfect, dry but slightly overcast. I juggled between posing the models and trying to stop my lights blowing over in the wind, or falling on the uneven ground. Anyone who thinks photography is glamorous should definitely come on a shoot with me. I’d change their minds quickly enough! We kept shooting until the light had faded. The wintery months are great for a moodier feel to photoshoots, but the light fades quickly. Working efficiently to get everything you need before you lose the light is imperative. So planning in advance is a must.
